Tug Hill Annie
Montague, NY 13367
According to the 2010 national census, the tiny town of Montague is home to just 78 residents; however, there is one person that was likely not included in the survey. Anna Joan Machowski was born in 1917 and later married to a man named Alfred. She had four children before she was out of her twenties, but Anna was unhappy and took to drinking. On a night in 1954, while going out for wine, she was decapitated in a fatal car crash; since that fateful day her spirit has been seen walking along Sears Pond Road. Locals have come to call her ghost Tug Hill Annie.
