Oakland Cemetery
Yonkers, NY 10701
The Oakland Cemetery was built in 1783 as a burial ground for Revolutionary War soldiers; at the time it was known as St. John’s Burial Grounds, a name which stuck for over one hundred years. The graveyard would later be rumored to be haunted, as vandalism ran rampant across the site. Three ghostly women are said to guard the cemetery, generally moving from the hill towards the grounds’ center, to chase away vandals.

I remember as a young teen going to the cemetery to visit my deceased aunt when we were driving up to Sunset Valley, I saw three dogs, me and my two little sisters, and when I pointed it out to my mom and dad, they yelled at us and told us to just shut up these dogs look like hyenas, and Rottweiler, mixed funny, shape, legs and their eyes glowing red as they ran and darted through the cemetery and disappeared out of nowhere. I was pooped in until this day I question what did I see? I’m starting to believe that what we saw was indeed, hell hounds. And it haunts me in my dreams. Does anyone else have any sightings they can recall of these hell hounds I’ve also seen a woman dressed in white and disappear into thin air. Anyone else

St. John's Cemetery still is in existience. Oakland was started in the nineteenth century.
All but one Revolutionary War Verterans were buried in St. John's; only one... very young whne he entered the war... is buried in Oakland. You may want to correct this.
