Van Cortlandt Park
Bronx, NY 10462
Situated in the northwest Bronx, Van Cortlandt Park is a 1,146 acre stretch of woodland and nature. It also features running trails, sports fields, a pool, stables, and a haunted house. The park is situated on the site of the Stockbridge Indian Massacre, a horrific event in which British soldiers hunted and killed more than three dozen Native Americans; their bodies were buried in the northwestern corner of what is now in the park. Perhaps it is their spirits, then, that are causing paranormal happenings in the Van Cortlandt House. Visitors say that doors close on their own, disembodied whispers can be heard, and apparitions are sometimes seen in the building. There have even been reports of dolls getting up and walking on their own.

One night got a call from a friend that their dog was hit n killed by a bus, so he wanted to bury her in side the park near the lake where he use to take her anyway I take my two friends that just happened to be with me when I got the call so we all meet up and try to rush to get to the spot as fast as possible trying to avoid getting seen by cops since we had a large black garbage bag in an shopping cart with two shovels sticking out not to mention a dead dog in that bag. So we get there n my friend picks a spot we all begin digging her grave and buried her as quick as we could again in fear of getting caught, so we all shared moments about her smoked one before we left n said our goodbyes and finished up we all were about to leave just then a idk what it was but a ball of energy bright light with dirt and leaves swirling around fell from the trees and as it was falling it broke branches also making a loud thudding sound when it hit the ground we all jumped back in shock and disbelief what were seeing my friend that was the closest to it with a shovel in his hand couldn’t see it but everyone else seen something so we made we were all together and got out of there as soon as we could turning back briefly to make sure we were all accounted for I seen what looked liked a shadow staring at us from behind a tree and continued to get out of there picking up speed. Through out the following weeks I asked each friend what they had seen that night and each of them all said the same thing all not talking about it again.

I've been to the park in November of 2019 what I can tell is that it is truly haunted. I do ghost hunting on my own with just a few ghost hunting aquipment. I've walked the woods at night and it's terrifying! No words, I suggest coming with someone.

I'm sixty years old, and have lived in the area my entire life. I have been to Van Cortlandt Park thousands of times. While I believe in spirits, I have never seen nor heard any ghosts in or around the park, or inside the mansion.
