Built in 1859, Ten Broeck Mansion was first alleged to be haunted in the mid-20th century when child occupants reported seeing a sad 17th century soldier dressed in Dutch clothing on the top floor. The soldier’s connection to the building has never been discovered, though it has been suggested his body may be buried nearby. The mansion is now owned by the Albany County Historical Association and is open to the public for tours.

Reviews

Right ghost, wrong house.

A slight correct to this story which I first blogged about several years ago having been given the story by one of the now-grown residents who saw the 17th century ghost. The house in question was not THE Ten Broeck Mansion operated by the Albany County Historical Association, but the nearby house at 49 Ten Broeck Street.
