NYS Education Department Building
Albany, NY 12234
The New York State Education Department Building was constructed between 1908 and 1911 as the first major building in the US built solely to headquarter the administration of education. It also housed the New York State Museum for half a century and part of it was once used as the New York State Library. Objects in the building have been known to move on their own, and witnesses claim to have seen a shadowy figure moving out of the corner of their eyes. The haunting is alleged to be connected to an Italian worker who mysteriously vanished during construction; some say he was accidently sealed into the building’s foundation and his spirit has remained trapped inside ever since.
