The Winery at Marjim Manor was established in 2003, but the development and surrounding farmland date all the way back to 1834 when Shubal Scudder Merritt purchased 205 acres of land and built a log cabin on it. Various members of Merritt’s family are said to still haunt the area, as are some of the subsequent occupants. Some visitors have even witnessed the ghost of a dog named Duke, who lived on the farm when it was owned by the Sisters of St. Joseph during the 1900s.
