Van Horn Mansion
Burt, NY 14028
Named for the family that built and occupied it for nearly a century, the Van Horn Mansion has stood for nearly 200 years. It was gifted to the Newfane Historical Society in 1987 and is currently open for tours, including candlelight tours during the month of October. The building is believed to be haunted by Malinda Van Horn, one of the building’s original occupants, who was buried in the rose garden. Motorists passing by have stopped short or skidded out of the way to avoid hitting a girl who has run out of the mansion and into the road only to see her disappear.
