Old Fort Niagara
Youngstown, NY 14174
Old Fort Niagara can trace its history back more than three hundred years to dealings between French settlers and Native Americans; a stockade was built around what was then a shipbuilding facility in 1679. Construction on a new, more solidly built fort began in 1726—a stone building which the French assured concerned representatives of the Five Nations would be used as trading post, but was in actuality designed to house soldiers and supplies while being impenetrable to Native attacks. The French Castle, as it came to be known, stands to this day and is now open to guests. Visitors say they have seen odd shadows and orbs moving throughout the building, and doors will sometimes slam on their own. There have even been reports of a headless ghost wandering the Old Fort.

Been going there since I was a kid. The headless ghost legend is just that, a story. Yet it scared the Hell out of me as a young child growing up 50yrs ago.
So much history, and so much suffering and death, had no doubt left it's traces. Sensed some things in the Officer's Quarters in the French Castle, and the Burying Ground outside this old fort's walls. Nothing concrete, though.
Walked through the Park grounds well after dark, and never experienced anything. Surprisingly peaceful.
