Seneca Falls Historical Society Museum

Seneca Falls Historical Society Museum stands on a site that dates back to 1823. The current house was built in 1855 for Edward Mynderse; in 1875 Mrs. Leroy Partridge purchased the home and began renovating and remodeling it. Edward’s spirit was apparently none too pleased with the changes, and began to stop clocks and turn picture backwards to express his distaste for the changes. Since the home has been converted into a museum, the ghost seems to have become less agitated and has even helped the staff from time to time. When a small bat had gotten into the home and no one could track it down, Edward is said to have rattled an old china cabinet so as to alert the staff’s attention to the bat’s location.
