Albany Rural Cemetery
Albany, NY 12204
The Albany Rural Cemetery was founded in April of 1841 and occupies 467 acres of well manicured land. Apparently some of those buried here must like the graveyard, as they have decided to stick around instead of moving on to the next life! Among the many spirits who have been spotted here are a girl in a prom gown, a mad horse who died by hitting his head on a monument while fleeing from his owners, a hitchhiker, and a sad, gray lady whose body was found in the nearby lake. Anna T. Osterhoudt, who shot herself to death atop her husband’s grave has made a few appearances, as had Mary Douglas Scott, who killed herself by drinking arsenic while at the cemetery. Locals say that many other spirits roam the grounds as well.
