Sailor’s Snug Harbor is a park, farm, botanical garden, and music hall which fulfills a variety of functions on Staten Island. It is open to visitors, many of whom have reported seeing apparitions while on the grounds. A lady in white has even appeared in photographs taken in the area.

There is also a cottage on the grounds, The Matron's Cottage, or Matron's House, that is rumored to be haunted. Many have reported strange occurrences inside the home including doors opening and closing by themselves and objects moving on their own. Chains have also been heard rattling in the basement.

Lady in a white dress!!

21 years ago I lived two blocks away from Snug Harbor. I was maybe 7-8 years old. We would frequent the park on afternoons after school. I remember vividly that we had just walked through the Filmore St. entrance to the park. I remember we were in the grassy area to the right of the entrance that leads to the fountain when I saw a lady in a white dress. I told my friends to look but no one claimed to see her. I was told that nothing and nobody was there. Today I talked with my husband about that experience and decided to look up paranormal activity at snug harbor and came across this post. I immediately had goosebumps as I read about the lady in white as I have often wondered if it was just I who experienced seeing her.
