North Lake Road in Forestport is the route taken by British soldiers after their defeat in the siege of Fort Stanwix. On some misty mornings the spirits of those soldiers will still flee down the road, reliving their flight long after it happened. Locals report hearing the moans of wounded soldiers and the creaking of wagon wheels.
