Rome Capitol Theatre
Rome, NY 13440
The Capitol Theatre in Rome opened in 1927 as a movie theater, and would host live acts on occasion as well. In the mid 1980s those roles were reversed, with the building converting into a live theater that would also screen occasional movies. Around the time of the switch from recorded to live theater, reports of ghostly activity also began springing up. Reports include doors that open on their own, phantom whispers, a defunct organ suddenly producing music, a shadowy male figure appearing in front of patrons, and the sounds of a late show performance when the theater should be silent.
