Lancaster Opera House
Lancaster, NY 14086
The Lancaster Opera House was built in 1894 as a conjoined music hall and town hall and, after a few renovations, continues to act as a performing arts and civic center for the community to this day. Patrons and actors have long held that the building is haunted, claiming that there are two distinct ghosts in the theater. One, a man named William, is thought to be the spirit of a person who hanged himself in the building; he now plays pranks on people and once threw a TV across the stage during a performance. The other is the spirit of a woman who manifests on the balcony and looks down to watch the shows. Both appear to be dressed in 1920s clothing.

Reviews
I practically grew up there, taking my first steps in this theater, and spending about six to twelve weeks a year in the theater for various shows for the first 8 years of my life. I, personally, have seen all three of the ghosts and communicated with them. The woman who stands in the balcony is named Priscilla, and she almost never leaves the area, so I've only spoken to her a few times. William I have spoken to on many occasions and used to hide props and costume pieces. (Not funny, but he clearly disagreed) When I was around six or seven, a few of my friends and I held a seance in the conference room, and I should mention that earlier in the day we had been making one of those countdown paper chains. Anyways, we went up to do a scene, (We were the only ones to use the conference room, nobody but a few of us had access, so no one else could've gotten in) We came downstairs after our scene was done, and found that the chains were in a circle, and in the center was one of the strips of paper with 'hello children' written in cursive. (I still have it somewhere) What many people don't know is that there's also a third ghost named Henry. I'm not really sure where he came from, but he was always a bit scruffy, and moved around in an odd drunk-like manner, he mainly hung out in the kitchen. In the long 8-3 days, sometimes they were my only friends and I miss them immensely. Hope this helps.
