Sheahan Hall at Marist College is said to be haunted by the spirit of a young girl who tragically died while dorming in the building. Shelly Sperling was in her freshman year at Marist when, on Febuary 18, 1975, her high school ex-boyfriend came to campus. Louis Acevedo, III, was angry that his former lover had left home to go to school and approached Shelly while she was on her way to the cafeteria; Shelly ran, but before she could call campus security Acevedo pulled out a gun and shot her.

Since her passing, residents of Sheahan Hall have reported strange, ghostly activity. Heavy objects have moved on their own and crashed onto the floor, and printers have reportedly shooting out for no reason. Numerous students report hearing toilets flush themselves, and others says their electronic devices have been plugged in and turned on by phantom forces.

Sheahan Freshman

The spirits drive Sheahan residents insane...two have been taken so far; more are sure to follow.
Be warned. I hear footsteps over my head at night. I live on the top floor.

I lived in Sheahan for the 97-98 school year.

I am a guy, I lived on the 1st floor in room 101. One night my roommate and I were about to go to sleep, and the door was locked including the deadbolt, and all electronics were off and out of nowhere the door swung open and everything turned on at once. The haunting was NOT exclusive to the 3rd floor.
