Some stories say that the Wyckoff Castle is haunted while others say that it just exudes a creepiness. Located on Carleton Island, a small island located in Cape Vincent, Wyckoff Castle has been abandoned for over 75 years. The castle sits just across the border from Canada and is in shambles.
So, the story goes... architect William Miller built the home for William O. Wyckoff in 1894. Wyckoff was successful and built his wealth helping Remington Arms Company develop a typewriter. The home's construction was completed in 1895, and Wyckoff spent just one night in his new home. He suffered a heart attack and died on the property. It's possible Wyckoff's spirit still lingers on the property. Maybe that's the eerie feeling people have reported!
