Fort Rickey Children’s Discovery Zoo is an interactive petting zoo, game farm, and agri-tourism destination located in Rome, New York.
Fall Fun Festival at Fort Rickey Discovery Zoo:
From late September through the end of October, Fort Rickey Children’s Discovery Zoo switches from our regular summer operation to a new operation with new fun family activities and pricing. Some of our delicate zoo animals are moved off exhibit and into their warm winter quarters. Also, approximately half of the zoo is closed off to foot traffic to allow safe operation of our wagon rides. There is still a list of animals to enjoy without taking the wagon ride including: deer feeding, the Maternity Ward, bunnies, barnyard animals and our daily wolf and otter shows.
Similar to our summer operation, fun things for kids to do in the summer turn to an emphasis on fall activities for kids with the Fall Fun Festival. This Festival is full of “hands on” family fun with special kid friendly activities such as: a hay bale maze, pedal tractors, oat-filled activity station, pony rides, wagon rides and more.
