Bannerman Castle
Beacon, NY 12508
Bannerman Castle is located on Pollepel Island in New York's Hudson River Valley. The Scottish-style castle dates back to 1900 and was built for use of housing Bannerman’s military surplus goods business. The castle ended up abandoned after many years of fires and explosions. A smaller replica of the castle was built near the warehouse castle and served as the private home for Bannerman and his family until 1940. The castle is rumored to be haunted due to all the tragic things that happened on the grounds when the Iroquois lived here. A tugboat captain is also said to have died after his boat crashed on the island near the castle.
