SUNY Potsdam - Real Potsdam Haunted Place
- 44 Pierrepont Ave
- Potsdam, NY
SUNY Potsdam was founded in 1816, making it one of the 50 oldest colleges in the United States. Many have come through the university over the years, but according to local legend one person never left. Dr. Howard Satterlee, the school’s first dean, is said to haunt his namesake building, Satterlee Hall. He has been seen walking the third floor hall and will sometime turn on the clock tower light at night. Students have also seen apparitions and doors slamming shut by themselves in the Knowles basement.

Knowles and Satterlee
I graduated from Potsdam 7 years ago. It was quite eerie. I would hang around 3rd floor of Satterlee because my department classes were held there. You'd feel someone while no one was there. I helped a few old friends move in and out of Knowles. It was very creepy in the basement. I felt a presence at one point when left alone there for 10 minutes or so. Posted 6/2/20
