St. Marks Church-In-The-Bowery in New York City features a stately exterior and is located in the East Village neighborhood of Manhattan. Rumor has it that the church is haunted by Peter Stuyvesant, the mythically well-known governor of New Amsterdam during the mid-1600s. Stuyvesant's ghost does not scare people though, he just likes to sing hymns in Dutch during services. Some witnesses have reported hearing the sound of his wooden leg on the church floor.
